DO YOUR RESEARCH:

Look at the current roster of any college and there is a lot of information on that sheet. Most schools have their rosters, schedules, results etc. posted on the Internet. Look at the geography of the players on the roster, where are the players' hometowns? Are most of them local or does the school recruit nationwide? Look at the height and weight of the players, as an example, are all of their pitchers 6-2 or above? Etc. How many upper classmen are on the roster? How many current players play your position and how many more years of eligibility do they have left? Look at the box scores and statistics from some of their games. You can see who has played and if the coach goes with a set lineup or if he makes substitutions very often.

HOW DO YOU COMPARE:

What kind of background do the players on the current roster possess? Is the team loaded with All-Region, All-State or All-American players? How many of the current roster has been drafted by a professional team in the past? (Note, some programs have pro draft picks sitting on their bench!) Does the team recruit JUCO players? If you are a freshman with a senior in front of you, will the coach then go after a JUCO player who will be a junior and have two years of playing eligibility?
